Dorte Sindbjerg publishes monograph

DORTE SINDBJERG, THE EUROPEAN COURT OF JUSTICE, PUBLICATION

“An Ever More Powerful Court? The Political Constraints of Legal Integration in the European Union” recently went to press at Oxford University Press.

The work examines the ability of the European Court of Justice to foster political change in the EU. The impact of court rulings are analysed on the basis on data from 1957-2014 as well as three case studies; the working time regulation, patients' rights in cross border healthcare, and the regulation on posting of workers.

The book finds that the EU legislative conditions the more general impact of legal integration. Despite the fragmentation of the political system of the EU, politicians have the ability to modify and sometimesreject judicial influence on policy outputs.

The book and its data have been submitted and accepted for a higher doctoral defence. The defence will take place on Friday, 13th November 2015, at 1 PM in building 35, room 35.03.12. at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Øster Farimagsgade 5, Copenhagen-1353.
